Pages of Protest
In the United States, book banning has increased at an alarming rate. 'Pages of Protest' critically examines the rise in book bans across the state of Texas and how this movement directly influenced the passage of Texas House Bill 900 and Texas House Bill 18. The documentary explores how contemporary political agendas, religious influence, and cultural conflicts shape information access and determine which stories are permitted in public spaces. The film follows the life of a young, queer, Black student activist, Da’Taeveyon Daniels, as he confronts the Texas legislature and radical political groups seeking to remove voices and stories that represent BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
